The Story Behind Hot Dog
Like all good stories, our story includes a dog!
Back in the blistering heatwave of June 2019, our founder sat in his office and had an epiphany. He was not happy.
For more than 20 years, Mal had worked in retail, starting in stores, and working his way up to running online businesses for some of the UK’s biggest brands. Working directly for companies, for VCs and high net worth individuals, to help their acquisitions maximise their return online, living and working in both the UK and abroad. And he was very good at what he did, building up a reputation for both delivering results, for fairness, and for being far too nice to almost everyone.
But in all that time of working for other people, Mal had never found an agency that showcased the skillsets that he and the people he had trained possessed – digital gurus who understood not only the digital world but also the fundamental commercials of each client account, and the importance of delivering results.
And that’s where Hot Dog Solutions was born. Mal wanted to create something different - an agency that would not only put clients’ needs first; but also understood numbers; that would act as an extension of the team with the urgency that they would have if this was their own business.
An agency that would be unique in the market, wouldn’t earn additional commissions and bonuses from clients spending more with them; who would put clients generating a positive ROI on their spend at the heart of what they do.
But where does the dog come in?
While brainstorming and describing his vision to many of his future Hot Dog team, there was only one thing missing – a name for the business. While trying to think of a name, his beloved Husky and business mascot walked in, panting from being out in the sun. Hot Dog Solutions was born.
